Five Colours, One Consistent Identity
A business card may be small, but the choice of material can give it a distinct role in an introduction.
York-based creative agency LazenbyBrown produced five versions of its business card, selecting Colorplan from GF Smith for the breadth of shades available.
Each card pairs a consistent Cool Grey Colorplan face with a different Colorplan shade on the reverse. Seen together in a group meeting, the changing reverse stocks create a point of interest, while the Cool Grey face provides consistency across the set.
Creating substance through duplexing
Duplexing bonds the printed Cool Grey face to its coloured reverse, creating a heavier, more substantial card with a clearly defined coloured edge.
Colour becomes part of the card’s construction rather than simply a surface treatment. Using different reverse stocks within the same production specification allows each version to feel distinct while remaining part of a coordinated set.
Adding depth with rich black
The artwork on the reverse was digitally printed using a rich black built from CMYK. This creates greater density than a standard single-colour black and provides strong contrast across the different shades, while allowing the colour and texture of each board to remain visible.
